Midnight Magic

At night, the swings in the playground
is my place of refuge
From the relentless activity in the city
Hustling and bustling,
Drowning me.

Silently at night,
Contented with the tranquility of the playground
Wrapped in the arms of the serene darkness
Cradled by the gentle breeze
Staring into the open sky

A cool puff of air tickles my face
Run its chilling fingers through my hair
And trickles its way down my back
A peculiar tingling starts from my toes
And makes its way up

A slight smile creeps to my face
I toss my head back gloriously
And gaze up
At the wondrous scene
That has enchanted me since way back…

The beguiling blend of dark royal blue, inky violet, and a tinge of jet black
The velvety blanket cast above my head
Illuminated with speckles of twinkling fairy dust
Silvery and lustrous,
Flickering above tentatively.

A flawless, glowing ivory gem hovers
In the cloak
of my mysterious blanket
Shy, yet curious
Concealed behind the creamy swirls of mist

But it's unable to hide its radiance
A beam of eagerness
Peeks through unintentionally
The fog parts and drifts away,
Disclosing the bare perfection of the precious stone

I grin as it finally gives in
Showing no despair,
It beams with jubilance once again
Showering the land with its dazzling rays
Invitingly

Just waiting,
For me to soar up and join them with a game of hide-and-seek
To dance upon the creamy swirls and pixie dust,
Frolicking on the silken blanket
Without a single care in the world…

I've fell for the spell,
Swept into the marvelous realm upon the midnight sky
Mesmerized by the unknown galaxies
Stretching farther than I can every dare to dream

…And it's brought a smile to my face again.
